Dust Wipes
Both before and after an abatement, property owners must ensure that there is no remaining lead dust on any contact surface. Analysis of dust wipes and submitting this analysis to HPD is a requirement to complete any lead paint abatement.
Visual/Turnover Inspections
Local Law 1 of 2004 requires property owners to take preventative measures and remedial actions related to lead-based paint upon unit turnover. Dust clearance tests must be taken with lab results below the required lead-contaminated dust thresholds.
