Areas of Practice

XRF Inspections

Local Law 31 of 2020 states that an owner must use an independent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified inspector to test for the presence of lead-based paint in a dwelling unit of a building constructed prior to 1960. The inspections must be completed prior to August 9, 2025 or within a year of a child under age 6 moving into the unit.

Our team completes inspections using state-of-the-art handheld devices that accurately take readings and allow our team to generate a detailed report of the findings. We can guide you through the process of applying for exemptions with HPD, from inspections to submitting the applications for exemption.

Dust Wipes

After an abatement, an EPA certified inspector independent of the abatement contractor, must complete dust wipe clearance testing. These samples must be tested and their analysis must be submitted to HPD to clear a unit of any violations and to complete the lead paint abatement process.

Visual/Turnover Inspections

When a residential unit changes hands, Local Law 1 of 2004 requires owners to complete certain lead-based paint activities that make the unit safer for the new tenant before occupancy.

Our firm can guide you through the turnover inspection process to ensure owners follow the proper HPD procedure.
